All orchids need a lot of air around their roots. The best medium to repot orchids in course bark and horticultural charcoal. Select a pot large enough to allow an inch of space around the roots. Next inspect the roots and cut off any that are blackened, hallow, spongy or damaged. Hold the plant upright in the new pot, and fill in and around with new potting medium, gently tamping down around the roots. Water well, so that water pours out of the bottom of the pot, to hydrate the roots and new potting medium.
